Join Vicki Noble at Earthspirit Council House!
For the past decade, feminist scholar and healer, Vicki Noble, has been adapting Tibetan Buddhist mandala practices for women who are not necessarily Buddhist, but are spiritual and interested in METHOD. This Goddess-Buddhist synthesis focuses on two famous historical Tibetan women, Yeshe Tsogyal (8th century) and Machig Lapdron (11th century) and the original practices they invented (for Vicki’s bio, visit her website).
This workshop is an opportunity to work with these two Tibetan Dakinis as role models, with a special focus on fierceness and courage as embodied in the Goddesses with whom they are linked, Vajrayogini (the Queen of the Dakinis) and Throma (the Black Dakini). The effect of doing these simple practices on a regular basis is to become grounded, centered, and empowered to act from within—no matter what lies ahead or what we might face in our lives.
Yeshe Tsogyal (below left), linked with Vajrayogini (below right), the female co-founder of Tibetan Buddhism (with Guru Padmasambhava), was understood to be an emanation of Vajrayogini, the Red Goddess of spontaneous enlightenment; it was Tsogyal who hid the Terma (treasures) for future reincarnations to discover.
Machig Lapdron (below left), linked with Throma (below right), is a reincarnation of Yeshe Tsogyal. She focused on austerities and practices of emptiness; she invented the now famous Chöd practice for overcoming fear and cutting through illusion.
